Recruitment    More Information
Recruitment & Selection

We committed to develop and maintain a sufficient pool of qualified seafarers to meet our customer's requirements.

It is for this reason that we established a recruitment section that screens and conducts preliminary interview to all applicants. All national, international, flag-state and Principals requirements must be met by all applicants. This includes and extensive pre-employment medical examination, thus ensuring all accepted applicants are physically and mentally fit to work onboard ship.

Our Recruitment Advantage
  • Job Advertisement in all mediums.
  • General Job Fairs.
  • Networking
  • Pre-screening, Interview and Trade test.
  • Background Checking

Screening and selection Process
To assess the applicant's knowledge and skills, the recruitment section conducts oral interview, computer based examination and trade test.

In paper screening, we segregate those with or without sea experience. All seafarers are prioritized and short-listed.

Computer based examination system has a data bank of some 5,000 questions. The computer selects randomly questions that are appropriate for the rank taking the examination. Even if the seafarer takes another set of exams for the same rank, the possibility of the same question being asked again is very rare.

There is also the "Marlins English" which have a tutorial as well as examination mode.

Finance and Administration    More Information
Besides handling the company's financial matters, the Finance and Administration Department is in charge of the seafarer's payroll service and delivery system.

The Crew Family Welfare provides important information to seafarers and their families regarding the privileges and benefits that they are entitled to receive. This would include AMOSUP, OWWA, SSS, PAG-IBIG and PhilHealth.  A system is also designed for the seafarers to make sure that they receive their packages, whether it would be a letter or parcel, onboard.  In line with this, the department also makes sure that urgent messages from their family are received timely.

Allotments are also made sure to be available to the seafarers and their families before the end of the month without any charges.  Cash Advances are also given with the agreement that it would be deducted from their shipboard pay.  Medical coverage for the seafarers is also given to them and their family provided that they have been with the company for 48 months on board. Repatriated crews who are injured and ill are also given the needed medical treatment as soon as they arrive in the Philippines.  In relation to this, dismissal and death of seafarers are looked into with great care by the officer in charge of such.

Value-added activities are also held for the benefit of the seafarers which include a Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) that tackles company policies, principal profile, discipline, safety and health hazards on board, recent development and accounting matters.

Loyalty Award for Seafarers is also given to honor the crews who have been with the company for 10, 15, 20 and 25 years.
